Clean Up Backend Menu - Your Squarespace, Your Rules
One of the biggest frustrations when working in Squarespace is digging through endless menus just to find the feature you actually want.
With so many built-in tools and add-ons, the backend can feel overwhelming fast.
The good news? Squarespace now lets you customize your backend menu so you only see what’s relevant to you.
Think of it like cleaning up your phone’s home screen — keep the essentials front and center, hide the rest.
Here’s how to make it happen.
At the bottom of your Squarespace dashboard, you’ll notice a new button with a grid icon - that’s the “Customize Sidebar” option, and it’s where you control what shows up in your backend menu.
Click the button and a full list of all your Squarespace features and pages will pop up.
From here, you can switch each item on or off - keeping the ones you use, and hiding the ones you don’t.
A few sections, like website, finance, and analytics, are locked since they’re required. Everything else is flexible.
You can not only toggle these sections on or off, but also rearrange them to change the order.
That’s all there is to it! This new feature should make building websites on Squarespace an even smoother and more enjoyable experience.
